Ident Task

In a blog post you need to:
  • Write a paragraph discussing how you came up with your ideas for your ident. Make reference to how your ident will fit your channel and meet the needs of your target audience, making sure that you discuss why.
  • Create a timescale of your production in bullet points. Discuss hoe long your production will take. Create a bullet point for each day, discussing what you will do on each day of production.
  • Look at the mind maps you did during your pre-production. Look at the ideas you did not use. Discuss why you did not choose these ideas. Make reference to your target audience and the style of the channel.
  • Discuss the mise-en-scene of your final ident. Discuss all of the reasons for your choices including setting, lighting, effects, typography, colours and props. What effects did you want to achieve with your mise-en-scene.

Task 2 with Dan and Jen

In your groups you need to add to your presentations.
In this section you will be discussing the research you did and what you gained from it.

You will again need to divide up the jobs among your group.
You need to do a slide for each of the following:
  • Discuss what methods of research you have used (do a slide each for primary, secondary, quantitative and qualitative)
  • Discuss how effective each method was for gathering research (time it took, how much information you gained)
  • Which method was the best for gathering research and which was best for understanding your audience
  • How relevant was the information you gathered?
  • How did you decide what news item cover?
  • How did you make sure that your research could be trusted?
  • How has the research effected the running order of your show?

Research Task with Dan W & Jen

Before we start making our studio shows we need to do some research.
In your groups you will need to research three things.
1) Production Content
2)Audience Demographic
3)The Market

In your groups you will need to divide up the research load so that everyone contributes. You can compile this in a Google Presentation that can be shared with everyone.

Production Content (Information on the topics of your show)

  • Find interesting stories
  • Verify their authenticity (make sure your sources are reliable)
  • Discuss the importance of these stories to your target audience
Audience Demographic (finding out about your audience)
  • Interview people from your target audience (finding out what they would like in the show)
  • Read reviews of competitor shows
  • Analyse the data you have collected
  • Create an Audience Profile
The Market (finding out about similar shows)
  • Research competitor viewing figures
  • Research competitor scheduling
  • Analyse data
  • Watch other news shows
  • Predict the placement of your own news shows
You must use a variety of research techniques (quantitative, qualitative, primary, secondary)
You must get your research from a number of sources e.g. tv, internet, interviews, questionnaires.

Music Video Evaluation

Intro:

  • What have you made? What song did you choose?
  • What are the themes or narrative of your music video?
  • What do you believe the strengths and weaknesses of your music video are?
  • How is your video effective (how has it targeted your target audience?)
Research:
  • You will need to conduct a questionnaire (to save time you can do one per group and all share the data)
  • You will need to ask:
  • What are the strengths of the video?
  • What are the weaknesses of the video?
  • Do you think the video appeals to the target audience? (you will need to tell them who your target audience is)
  • How would you do the video differently?
Self Assessment
  • Discuss the decisions you made as a group and how they affected your production.
  • Discuss your role in the production and how effective you were.
  • Discuss the film making process, how did you create your video?
  • During production what went well?
  • What challenges did you face during production?
  • How did you overcome them?
  • How would you create your video differently if you could do it again?
Drafts:
  • You are required to do 3 drafts of the evaluation.
  • Once you have completed your first draft, print it out, underline or circle all spelling and grammar mistakes.
  • Take a picture of this and upload it to your blog.
  • Print this one out and then make written notes based on your writing. Find ways to make it more professional, interesting and creative.
  • Take a picture of this and upload it to your blog.
  • Make the alterations to your original post and upload it to the blog.

Evaluation Structure

Introduction

You will need to discuss your animation. What is it about? What music have you used? Who is your target audience? How are you targeting them?

How effective was your animation? Discuss the standard of your animation in terms of quality. Discuss whether you believe if you have created an enjoyable short animated film.

You will then need to discuss what your role was in producing the animation. Discuss what you did during the planning and production of your animation.

You will need to discuss the research you did. Then you will analyse the feedback that you received. To do this, go through every question you asked and summarise the feedback you got, using direct quotes from your interviewees.

What was the goal of your animation? To make your target audience laugh? educate them? entertain them? scare them? to be creative? for escapism? Discuss your goal and analyse whether you have achieved it. Use comments from your interviews and specific examples from your animation to back this up.

Discuss the usefulness of the interviews you have conducted. What have they taught you? Have they helped you to reflect on your own work? After the feedback would you do your next project differently?

Analyse the pros and cons of your animation. These can be technical or creative. When analysing these you need to use specific examples from your animation using timecodes and examples of feedback you got from your interviews.

Focus Group Questions

The last task for Stop Motion Animation is a reflective review.

Firstly you will need to arrange some screenings of your animations. You will need to collect some data from them. This can be through an interview, questionnaire or focus group.

Questions

1) Did you enjoy the animation?

2) What was your favourite feature of the animation?

3) Do you think the animation is of professional standard?

4) Do you think that the animation will attract my target audience?
(you will have to tell your interviewee who your target audience is)

5) What do you think my target audience will like about the animation?

6) How could I improve the animation?
